Certified welding

Star Precision joins your parts with certified welders and certified processes, TIG, MIG, Spot, Stud and Laser Welding. Because welding sits right beside cutting, forming and finishing, your assemblies are cut, welded and finished under one ISO 9001 roof, with no outside vendors in the middle.

Overview

Welding built into your fabrication

Welding is not a bolt-on service at Star Precision. It is part of our fabrication department, so parts move from laser and brake straight into the weld cell without leaving the building.

Certified welders and certified processes produce strong, clean, repeatable joints in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper or brass. Keeping cutting, forming, welding and finishing together means tighter fit-up, better quality control and faster turnaround than a shop that has to ship parts out to be welded. Welding processes we offer

Certified welders run a floor of Miller and Lincoln TIG, MIG and spot welding machines, matching the right process to your material, joint design and production volume.

TIG welding

Precise, clean welds for thin material and cosmetic joints in stainless, aluminum and steel, run on Miller Dynasty and Lincoln Precision Tig machines.

MIG welding

Fast, strong welds for thicker sections and higher-volume production assemblies, run on Miller and Lincoln Power Mig equipment.

Spot welding

Efficient resistance welds for sheet metal panels and repeatable production joints.

Stud welding

Fast, reliable attachment of studs and fasteners to sheet and plate without back-side marking.

Laser welding

A precise, low-heat process for thin material and cosmetic joints where minimal distortion matters, run alongside our TIG, MIG, spot and stud capability.

Brazing

Oxy-acetylene brazing joins copper, brass and other non-ferrous materials where a lower-heat joint is the right call instead of a full weld.

Materials we weld

We weld the same range of metals we fabricate, from mild steel to copper and brass, and will help you choose the right process for the material during quoting and DFM review. Not sure whether your joint calls for TIG, MIG or something else? Tell us the material and the service conditions and we will recommend a process.

  • Mild & carbon steelStrong and readily weldable, mild and carbon steels are our workhorse materials for welded brackets, frames and structural assemblies.
  • Stainless steelTIG and MIG welded to a clean, hygienic finish, stainless steel is the right choice for medical, food-grade, marine and outdoor assemblies that have to resist corrosion.
  • AluminumLightweight and a strong heat conductor, aluminum takes a precise TIG weld for enclosures and other weight-sensitive welded assemblies.
  • Copper & brassWelded and joined for connectors, bus bars, terminals and precision fittings where conductivity and a clean finish matter.
  • Other metals on requestWelding a different alloy? Tell us what you need and we will confirm the right process and help you choose the most cost-effective option.

Welding specifications

Our welding process

Every welded assembly follows the same controlled path, from first quote to final inspection, so joints come off the line strong, clean and repeatable whether you order one assembly or a full production run.

  1. Quote & DFM reviewSend drawings or CAD. We review joint design, access and fit-up for manufacturability, flag anything that would slow welding, and quote fast.
  2. Cut & formParts are laser cut, tube laser cut and formed on our own NC brakes so they arrive square and weld-ready, without waiting on an outside fabricator.
  3. Fit & tackComponents are fixtured and tacked to hold alignment, so the final weld lands exactly where the print calls for it.
  4. WeldCertified welders run the right process for the job, TIG, MIG, Spot, Stud or Laser Welding, across our 13-machine welding floor.
  5. FinishWeld seams are ground and blended smooth, then grain sanded and polished, with powder coat, plating or paint coordinated to complete the part.
  6. Inspect & shipWelded assemblies are dimensionally inspected against the print, then packaged and shipped direct to you or moved into machining and final assembly.

Finishing & secondary operations

A welded assembly is rarely the finished product. As a one-stop Texas shop we handle the steps that usually mean another vendor and another shipment:

  • Grinding & finishingWeld seams are ground and blended smooth, then grain sanded and polished for a clean, consistent surface.
  • Coating & finishingWe coordinate powder coat, plating and paint so welded assemblies arrive fully finished.
  • Hardware installationPEM and other self-clinching hardware, inserts and fasteners are installed to spec after welding, as part of the same build.
  • Assembly & box buildWelded assemblies flow into machining and full electro-mechanical assembly, all under one roof.

Industries we weld for

Star Precision welds assemblies for demanding Texas and national manufacturers, including the regulated and heavy-industrial sectors below, where certified quality and material traceability matter as much as the weld itself:

  • Architectural metalsWe weld canopies, panels and feature metalwork built to elevate design, like our El Paso airport art canopy.
  • Food equipmentWe weld stainless steel machines and food-service equipment to a clean, hygienic finish.
  • Oil, gas & energyWe weld durable, corrosion-resistant enclosures and structures for power generation and oil, gas and energy equipment.
  • Industrial & OEMWe weld frames and sub-assemblies for industrial and OEM equipment makers.

What to expect when you work with us

Working with a fabrication shop should be straightforward. From the first file you send to the finished parts arriving on your dock, here is what you can count on from our team.

  • Send a print or a partSend a STEP, IGES, DXF/DWG or PDF drawing, or a physical assembly, and we will quote the joints directly.
  • Honest fit-up feedbackWe flag joint design and access issues that would slow welding or hurt quality, before fixturing starts.
  • One point of contactOne team owns your job from cutting through finishing and assembly, all under one roof.
  • NDAs on requestWe sign NDAs on request, so your assembly drawings stay fully confidential.
  • On-time deliveryParts arrive weld-ready straight from our own laser and brake, so schedules hold from our Texas shop, not an overseas queue.
